Outrage in South Africa as White Men Attempt to Murder Black Teens at Swimming Pool

Outrage in South Africa as White Men Attempt to Murder Black Teens at Swimming Pool – Three white men in South Africa have been charged with crimes including attempted murder after a shocking racist attack on two Black teenagers. The incident, which took place at a swimming pool at the Maselspoort resort in the Free State province, was caught on video and has sparked widespread outrage in the country.

In the footage, the men can be seen trying to prevent the teenagers from swimming and claiming that the pool was reserved for white people. They can also be heard shouting at the boys and hitting them, with one man even pushing one of the teenagers underwater. Security footage also shows the men attempting to block the teenagers from entering the pool, and a group of white people exiting the pool as soon as the Black teenagers arrived.

The attack has been widely condemned, including by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who stated in a statement, “As Black and white South Africans, we should be united in condemning all manifestations of racism and attempts to explain or defend such crimes. Racism is not a problem to be fought by Black South Africans only.”

Members of the leftist Economic Freedom Fighters party have visited the resort and demanded answers from the manager, who claimed that the resort did not have a racial segregation policy. However, this incident is just the latest example of the deep-seated racism that persists in South Africa almost 30 years after the transition from white-minority rule, known as apartheid, to democracy. In 2018, a real estate agent was sentenced to three years in prison for shouting racial insults at a Black policeman, and in 2020, a white man was convicted of crimen injuria and given a suspended sentence after using racist slurs in a video that circulated on social media.

It is crucial that the perpetrators of this heinous attack are brought to justice and that steps are taken to combat racism in all its forms. Such acts of hatred and discrimination have no place in our society and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
