Omar Zaki, the General of Beni Suef antiquities directed an archaeological mission in the area of the Meidum pyramid, east of Al-Mastaba No. 17. The main objective of the mission was to reveal the extension of a cemetery that dated from the end of the 3rd dynasty of Kemet.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”parallax_image_grid” images=”9667″][vc_column_text]The team discovered funerary offerings in the east of the mastaba No. 17, which are two heads of animals, probably bulls. They also discovered next to the offerings, three small symbolic utensils made of pottery and the scrolls of papyrus that are now being studied by the mission. Mudbrick walls were also discovered, which represents the outer wall surrounding the mastaba, Dr. Ayman Ashmawi head of the Egyptian Antiquities Sector said that they also discovered the human burial of a 13-year-old girl in a squatting position.
The Mission is now in the process of restoring and strengthening the discovered mud brick walls to protect it.
